SAFE

The Student Assistance and Family Empowerment Program (SAFE) offers direct help and resources to students and their families. SAFE also offers students a confidential and safe place to go if they need someone to talk to or need help resolving their problems. You can find our SAFE Coordinator Ms. Wheeler in the discipline office.

JHS students can visit the SAFE office and shop for necessities at no charge. We never want a lack of resources to inhibit a student's ability to learn.

The OCPS McKinney-Vento Program is designed to provide services to address challenges children and youth in housing transition may face when enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school.

The Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act states that children and youth who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence qualify as experiencing homelessness. If, due to a loss of housing, a child must live in a shelter, motel, vehicle, or campground, on the street, in abandoned buildings, or doubled-up with relatives or friends, then he/she is eligible to receive services under the McKinney-Vento Act.
