The Jones High School Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble traveled to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall on April 7. The Wind Ensemble performed in the National Instrumental Music Festival and the Concert Choir opened and performed in the National Youth Choir Concert. Only three other schools in the country have had their band and chorus perform on the same weekend. We were honored to have Superintendent Dr. Barbara Jenkins present for our performances!
On Sunday, April 8, the Concert Choir performed at The Abyssinian Baptist Church of New York City (Rev. Dr. Calvin R. Butts III). Special thanks to Dr. Carl MaultsBy for arranging the special opportunity. Choral Director Andrea Green (Class of 1988) and Band Director Jamaal Nicholas (Class of 2009) along with our entire school community would like to thank everyone who contributed time, talent, and resources to make this once-in-a-lifetime trip a reality for our students.
